Chesil Fudge Unwrapped
Closely observing the surface of a pebble as it is rotated and recording the textures, seams and colours results in an abstract painting.
30x70cms acrylic on watercolour paper
From the 1970’s until 2020 most of my work was in response to my environment, be it domestic, manmade, or natural, which in style ranges from closely observed drawing and painting to the expressive and abstract. I spent several years at sea half a life ago, and continued to be fascinated by finding ways to express its colours, light, movement and power. I worked from observation, memory and experience. With easy access to the Dorset coast, I also responded to what I found and observed at the edge of the sea. Thirty years in the North Dorset countryside walking the hills, meadows and rural paths almost every day has had an impact on how I see the natural environment and I have been drawn to the little things, the texture and detail in hedgerows, the patterns made by grasses, wild blooms and insects and the chaos of my messy cottage garden. Presented chronologically, the works on this page cover over fifty years of creativity and are in the archive sale. Click on a picture for more details and to buy.
